Photos from a rental handover can become difficult to interpret later: which item they show, when they were taken and which marks were already present. A collection of camera-roll images often leaves that context scattered across photos and messages.
Rentscuff brings the item, its condition and the handover record together. The aim is a clear account that someone else can review when the item is returned.
- Start with the item.Choose a template for the rental, adjust its sections or start with a blank capture.
- Record its condition.Add photos or short video, condition tags and notes. Circle visible marks while keeping the original media.
- Compare handover and return.Revisit the same item and view the records side by side, with the dates and notes close to the images.
- Keep a useful receipt.Export a PDF Proof Receipt for sharing or printing, or include the original media in an export package.
A rental can be a vehicle, room, piece of equipment or something borrowed for an event. Templates provide a starting point, while editable sections let the record follow the actual item.
The design keeps capture, review and export in one sequence. Photos explain what was visible; notes explain what needs attention; the receipt keeps that context together for the next person reading it.
Rentscuff organises what someone captured. Comparing records is a human review: the app does not automatically identify damage, determine responsibility or promise an outcome in a dispute.
We design and develop Rentscuff, from the capture flow and review screens to the layout of the Proof Receipt. The website is live and the iPhone app is being prepared for release. This case study describes the product being built, ahead of public app availability.
